Xiaomi’s selfie-focussed smartphone the Redmi Y1 and the entry-level Redmi Y1 will go on sale for the second time on November 14.
The Y series smartphones will be available on e-commerce website Amazon and Xiaomi’s official website Mi.com at 12 pm IST.

The Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 lite will ship with MIUI 8 out of the box and will be upgradeable to the latest MIUI 9 within a month of release.
The base model of the Redmi Y1 with 3G RAM/ 32 GB storage is priced at Rs 8,999 and the higher-end model- 4GB Ram/ 64 GB storage will cost Rs 10,999. The Lite series of the Y1 is priced at Rs 6,999.
Coming to the specifications, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage options. A large 5.5-inch HD display is shielded with Corning Gorilla Glass on top. The smartphone has a 13 MP rear shooter with PDAF and the selfie camera is 16MP with f/2.0 aperture and front-facing led flash. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the rear of the device.
Addressing the heating issues found in earlier models, the Redmi Y1 has an aluminum frame, which the company claims is better for heat dispersion. The smartphone will receive the latest MIUI 9 update from mid-November, the company said.
The Redmi Y1 Lite features a similar 5.5-inch HD display but has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor with 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage. On the camera front, the Y1 Lite has a 13 MP rear shooter and 5MP selfie camera.
Both the Y1 and Y1 Lite are backed by 3080 mAh battery and have support for expandable storage up to 128 GB through microSD.
MIUI 9 upgrade will start rolling out from November 3, starting with Mi Max 2, Mi Mix 2 and Redmi Note 4 smartphones. The update includes India-specific features such as a “panchang calender”, Indian festival cards and IRCTC card that makes SMSes by IRCTC easy to read.
