OnePlus 6 is scheduled to launch in early May, and so far, the company has teased some of its upcoming features such as the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 256GB of storage, display notch, multi-purpose alert slider and more. The latest unofficial renders of the upcoming flagship reveal a smartphone in three new exciting colours- Blue, White and Black. The renders also show a re-positioned alert slider, vertically stacked dual rear cameras and a rectangular fingerprint scanner at the back. So far, the OnePlus 6 is shaping up to be a complete upgrade over the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, and we can expect the smartphone to stand tall among its closest competitors.

The renders for the OnePlus 6 show the device in a new Blue colour combination. The glossy appearance points to a metal back with glass on top. We can expect the smartphone to support wireless charging. The multi-purpose alert slider has now been shifted above the power button and apart from volume controls, the company also teases it for ‘slide to focus’. While we’re not entirely sure of the purpose, we assume it refers to the camera focus. The display notch is another key highlight of the device. As OnePlus co-founders Carl Pei and Pete Lau have stated, the company is aiming for maximum screen real estate, and by implementing the notch, the space around it can be used for notification icons. The company is also testing gestures, similar to the ones seen on the iPhone X, to replace on-screen navigation buttons. The company has been testing gestures for the OnePlus 5T in its OxygenOS Beta builds. To get a fair indication of the kind of gestures that will make its way to the OnePlus 6, all one needs to do is observe the gestures accessible on the OnePlus 5T.

Based on preliminary leaks, OnePlus 6 is expected to come with a 6.28-inch Full HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) Optic AMOLED display having 19:9 aspect ratio. While it is being speculated that the smartphone 6 will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass on top, it might also feature screen calibration options like DCI-P3. Under the hood, OnePlus 6 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU, a 6GB RAM variant along with the 8GB RAM variant. As for inbuilt storage, there will be 64Gb, 128GB and 256GB variants. The last spec is an interesting one as this will be the first time that the smartphone manufacturer will include such a huge storage size in any of its offerings, with all the previous models topping out at 128GB.

At the rear panel, the company is highly expected to offer a dual rear setup with 16-megapixel and a 20-megapixel sensor having f/1.7 aperture on both lenses. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, will have a 20-megapixel sensor coupled with f/1.7 aperture. OnePlus 6 is expected to be backed by a 3450mAh non-removable battery and run on Oxygen OS be based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. Some reports have also claimed that OnePlus 6, which will the company’s 2018 flagship could be the most expensive smartphone from OnePlus yet.

OnePlus’ strong point has always been flagship specifications at an affordable price. However, with successive releases, the company’s upcoming OnePlus 6 could cost a staggering Rs 45,000 for the 256GB variant, according to reports. The OnePlus 6 is reported to be available in three storage models- 64/128/256GB. One of the most recent and important leaks comes from India as a ‘true-tech’ has reported that the OnePlus 6 (64GB) will be priced at Rs 33,999 and Rs 36,999 for the 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM version, while the OnePlus 6 (128GB) will be priced at Rs 38,999 and Rs 42,999 for the 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variant.
