Remember Whistle Podu Express? The train that carried thousands of Chennai Super Kings fans from Chennai to Pune to support their team. The express train is all set to make a comeback as a report in ESPNcricinfo suggests that the franchise has again booked a similar sort of train for its fans, which will see 1000 fans travelling from Chennai to Pune to support their team.
The team owners are ensuring that there is no dearth in support for their team as Pune is the adopted home of Chennai Super Kings under given circumstances. The franchise made its comeback to this IPL after serving a ban of two years had to shift its base to Pune due to state issues in Chennai. The franchise did play the first game in Chennai but was forced to shift the home venue due to increased voices against IPL in the state.
The security of players was also one of the concerned issues to shift the venue from Chennai. During the contest, the spectators hurled shoes inside the playing area, which was the last thing BCCI would have wanted. Later, a decision was taken to shift CSK’s home base to Pune. However, CSK’s ardent fan followed the team and the franchise booked an entire train for its fans.
The CSK fans came in numbers to support their team and the MS Dhoni-led team also did not disappoint and handed a 64-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals in the first home game in Pune. The Men in Yellow will look to emulate their success so as to give another reason to smile to their fans, who have travelled 1190 KM to support their team.
