Mangaluru: A day after the election results were announced, independent candidate Srikar Prabhu announced that he would contest the Lok Sabha Elections in 2019 on the same ideology and commitment.
Addressing a press meet at his election campaign office on May 16, Srikar said, “My intention for contesting elections has been fulfilled. It was necessary to contest the elections to prove my political existence.”
Even though he received only 861 votes in the assembly election, an upbeat Srikar Prabhu said, “I will contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 with the same ideology. My supporters will also contest in the elections for Mangaluru City Corporation. The number of votes and supporters will surely increase in the future elections.”
He also opined that his vote share would have increased if the polling percentage in Mangaluru South constituency would have gone up to 80 percent. “The voters who remained neutral were my voters”, he claimed.
He also alleged that many refrained from voting due to anti-incumbency factor against the sitting MLA for his politics on Bavutagudda Road renaming controversy.
