Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Neelamani N. Raju inaugurated the 25th anniversary celebrations of the police training centre at Khanapur in Belagavi district on Thursday.
She urged young police officers and constables to continuously update their skills as the job profile of the police keeps changing regularly.
“The police force embodies discipline, endurance, peace and harmony. We should live by these principles and help promote such values in the society,” she said. The department has a responsibility to develop, build and maintain a healthy society. We should never lose sight of this, she said. She advised the police to ensure smooth conduct of elections. “You should behave in a neutral, non-political manner. Your conduct should be according to rules,” she said.
She gave away prizes to trainees of the 23rd batch of constables. She also gave away awards to the trainers and the police band. As many as 294 trainees passed out of the eight-month training session.
U. Alfaz won the DGIGP trophy. Trainees Puneet H.G., Kishor V., Halesh A., Basavaraj N., Charan Kumar, Jayaram K.J., Sharat K.N., Nagaraj, Yoganand M., and Mahesh Kumar won prizes.
