Bengaluru: More than 250 Karnataka State Transport Corporation Buses (KSRTC) buses will not be in operation on April 5 due to Tamil Nadu Bandh demanding formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
The opposition parties led by DMK have called for a statewide bandh against the Centre’s failure to create the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
There will not be any KSRTC bus services from Karnataka to any part of Tamil Nadu throughout the day on April 5, Managing Director (MD) of KSRTC said and added night services would run as usual.
THe Supreme Court had ordered the formation of the CMB within 45 days of its order on February 16.The Centre and Tamil Nadu on March 31 had moved the SC on the issue of constitution and composition of the Cauvery Management Board in compliance with the February 16 apex court verdict .
The Centre sought three-months time to implement the apex court order due to the upcoming Karantaka Assembly elections. Besides extension of time, the Centre had also asked for clarification on various issues for formulation of a “scheme” for implementing the decision of the top court.
