Mangaluru: In a letter addressed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah, Vinayak Baliga’s sister has sought clarifications on issues and events that led to her brother’s killing.
Speaking to media on May 8, Baliga’s sister questioned BJP’s silence over the issue at a time when the party is going hammer and tongs to nail the culprits involved in the murder of Hindu activists in the region. Suspecting BJP Mangaluru South Assembly Constituency candidate Vedvyas Kamath’s role in the killing considering his close relationship with Naresh Shenoy, the prime accused. She bemoaned the apathetic attitude of the saffron party towards her brother’s killing, despite him being an active BJP Hindu activist.
BJP is talking of Hindu activists’ murders during political campaign but none is invoking the name of Vinayak Baliga. The party neither protested against his killing nor came to family’s aid, she said..
In her letter, she has asked Amit Shah to find the people and reasons that led to her brother’s murder and also sought the state chief secretary’s help in constituting a SIT to crack the case.
