Bengaluru: Namma Metro services on both Purple and Green Lines will close 45 minutes earlier than usual on Saturday for maintenance work.
The last service from terminal stations Nagasandra, Yelachenahalli, Byappanahalli and Mysuru Road will be at 10.15pm instead of 11pm. On Sunday, services on both the lines will start at 10.30am instead of 8am from the terminal stations.
The BMRCL officials said such periodic shutdowns will be taken up to carry out maintenance work of the tracks.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Employees’ Union (BMREU) has decided to stick to its indefinite strike plan from March 22 despite the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) threatening to invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the employees.
Around 150 disgruntled employees gathered at the Press Club on Friday to protest non-recognition of their union, harassment of members, lack of a redressal-grievance mechanism and contract labour system.
