BENGALURU: BJP State Yuva Morcha General Secretary B Y Vijayendra is set to play a big role in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Vijayendra, son of State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, is preparing to hit the road on a state tour to draw the youth towards the party. Vijayendra, who was tipped as the party candidate from Varuna constituency to take on former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yatheendra, had maintained a low profile after he was denied the ticket. But he is now set to return to active mode with a state-wide tour to galvanise youngsters. A formal decision in this regard is expected at a meeting of senior BJP leaders on Saturday.
“Vijayendra has emerged as a popular leader for the youth in the old-Mysuru region. BJP youth wing cadres in other regions too want him to tour their regions to galvanise the cadres,” a senior party leader said.Meanwhile, BJP is chalking out plans for further strengthen its booth-level committees. The present model of having at least 10 committed activists for each poling booth is set to be ramped up with ‘One booth 25 youth’ implying that each booth will have at least 25 committed young party cadres to reach out to every voter in each polling booth as part of the micro-level poll strategy.The booth members will have a composite social mix with compulsory representation of backward communities, SC, ST and Women.
Dedicated call centre
BJP is also planning to set up a dedicated state-level Call Centre in Bengaluru and also similar centres in all the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies for round-the-clock interaction with its cadres and leaders. The call centre will enable the party to convey its campaign strategies to cadres, monitor the implementation of the mass reach out programmes and take the feedback from the cadres to fine tune its strategies to achieve its ‘Mission 25” for Lok Sabha polls in the state, sources said.
